Christmas Countdown ...17... Angels

... Good tidings we bring ....
 Angels played an important role in the first Christmas. Gabriel, the archangel of revelation, informed Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus Christ on Earth. An angel visited Joseph in a dream to tell him that he would serve as Jesus' father on Earth, and a vast amount of angels appeared in the sky over Bethlehem to announce and celebrate the birth  of Christ. Considering the vital role that angels played in the first Christmas, it's not surprising that they began to take prominent places on Christmas trees soon after people developed the tradition of decorating trees for Christmas.

    Hi Wilma, I just replied to your question about the ribbon on my tag on tag Tuesday and then realised that you are in Australia - a bit far to travel to the range shops! Perhaps you might find ribbon the same where you are! Love your tag, it's unusual and great colours. Happy crafting, barb x

A spider sandwich for lunch?

Rosemary Ellen Guiley says in her  Encyclopedia of Witches, Witchcraft, and Wicca  that in some traditions of folk magic, a black spider “eaten between two slices of buttered bread” will imbue a witch with great power. If you’re not interested in eating spiders, some traditions say that catching a spider and carrying it in a silk pouch around your neck will help prevent illness...
